at the incarnation into flesh
blood and bone let spirit enter
forced and tight in sinews form

at the signal of the dawns finale
light led forth from singular sleep
space and substance gendered shape and shadow

at that moment senses five all fired
the signals that the world waved in
and mind and matter met

enformed and awake sunvibrant and seedtender
burning child of pleading eyes where stars of wonder swarm
from the single rhythm of the first domain
where breather and the breath knew not position
where one blood two bodies vivified
from the timeless nameless thoughtless kingdom
to the timeled labelled conceptualised realm
of infinite space indefinite spaces
where each to his own seems bound against the rest
where blood and skin seek a limit to define
and to defend as if all were not already one

a part, apart
individual yet dependent
potency while form is but a shadow
of a future reference

yet
  trees slow strength is in the seed contained
future glory in the present hid

o child, you always at your eternal toil
your service so sublime and songless
wherein you mould the moment
from which the future falls

there is no artist in all the galleries of time
to cast your shadow earthward
