home and away
inside her field of love
i wander in amongst the flowers
drinking in her wild perfumes
my flesh embalmed against her petals
sober as a hawk
and hungry
for that uncommanded touch
to pry the fibres of my heart apart
and bring the rain into my blood
to blow against my flesh
and in my fingers
splash sweet love
into the calyx of her heart
no space can mark the entry to that field
from which i cannot leave
as have my fingers to their dry remembrance
for my heart knows not time, nor space
until my body ventures near
and then the membranes of my cells
sucking in her wild perfumes
tell me i am too close to leave
and i must throw my storms upon her flesh
must let my heart be hers
once more
o rain and flowers
field of love
forgive my feet their rootlessness
my heart its restlessness
